I have no idea what this tree is, but I love the bright red blossoms! I saw it at a golf course in Kissimee, Florida. It reminds me of my Christmas cactus in a way. If you know what it is, please tell me in a comment.
Yep it is a Callistemon and we have them here in Australia. They have a great rush of bottle brush shaped flowers (hence the nickname) at the beginning of summer - the red flowers are the most eye-catching. Some of them are very drought hardy. If you wanted to grow them you probably could although the seeds need heat or fire to release.
I believe it is a bottlebrush tree. I wish they grew in Michigan.
