Uncle Bill's Bar

Uncle Bill's Bar
I insisted on driving by Uncle Bill's bar as we left St Joseph. I didn't go in... instead I stood in the middle of the muddy street to snap this photo! He died several years ago. It's neat that the new owner kept the name (Jackson's Tavern). During visits to St Joseph, we used to have fun sneaking out of Grandma's house to visit Uncle Bill. He was always lots of fun to be around.

Pony Express

Pony Express Statue
The Pony Express was a fast mail service crossing from St. Joseph, Missouri, to Sacramento, California, from April 1860 to October 1861. It was used to mail letters before the transcontinental railway and telegraph lines were built.

Grandma's House

Grandma's House
I was asked to travel to Missouri to work with teachers as they begin a one-to-one laptop initiative. I thought I was going to St Louis, but turns out the training is in St Joseph, near Kansas City. My mom grew up in St Joseph and my Grandparents lived there all their lives. When I was a kid, we traveled there frequently. My Grandmother died a few years ago and I thought I'd never be back to St Joseph. Turns out the hotel I'm staying at is only a few miles from the house where she used to live! I have lots of good memories here.
