This used to be my "photo of the day" blog. I really need to get back into the habit of posting pictures!

Winter Carnival

Michigan Technological University, located in Houghton (way way up in Michigan's upper peninsula), hosts a winter carnival each year. Winter is celebrated with ice statue/sculpture contests, skiing and snowshoeing races, broomball tournaments, ice bowling, human dogsled races, tug-of-war contests on the ice, and more. The whole college community is involved, and people come from afar to be there. My daughter, with her Delta Zeta sisters, worked long and hard on this Pretty Pretty Princess ice statue and won first place. The theme is "Games We Know." Photo by guest photographer Lisa Shoemaker.
